Congolese protest in Denver (USA)…after the death of 2 compatriots who were killed by the police.

Congolese living in Denver (USA) demonstrated today following the death of 2 compatriots who were killed by the police.
They are : Patrick Lyoya (26) and Emmanuel Amani (52).

The death of Patrick Lyoya

Patrick Lyoya (26 years), was coldly executed by a police officer in southeast Grand Rapids, Monday, April 4, 2022 at 8:00 am … the victim who had parked his vehicle was talking with a friend.
According to the family of the deceased, Patrick’s murder was a racist act, and they are seeking justice.
According to some reports, the police officer who cowardly shot Patrick in the back of the head, left his body lying on the ground for 9 minutes, without life-saving treatments. The friend who was with him, recorded the murder on his phone and had the device confiscated by the police.
Attempt to cover up the murder of this young boy to the world?
Apparently, Patrick’s driver’s license had expired and his car was reported stolen. A police officer subsequently stopped him and shot him fatally.

The death of Emmanuel Amani

Pastor Emmanuel Amani (52) was killed in his car in Denver, Colorado, on April 5, 2022 at approximately 5:00 a.m. He was on his way to work when he was shot by a police officer. He was on his way to work when he was ambushed. Police officers were exchanging gunfire with offenders, the latter firing from a building complex. Without taking the time to verify his identity, the police officers fired several shots at the vehicle of this man from the DRC. According to witnesses, « two officers arrived and found a man sitting in a Nissan Versa in the driveway of the apartments.
According to the affidavit*, the officers shone a flashlight on the man in the Nissan and noticed that he did not match the description of the man firing the weapon. The officers proceeded to the apartment complex and heard a gunshot.
The officers then spotted a man, whom police identified as Elroy Lee, holding a handgun and attempting to enter an apartment, the law enforcement officers contacted Lee and ordered him to lower his weapon and get on the ground.
Elroy Lee complied with the officers’ orders and was taken into custody. Officers recovered the murder weapon, which had the serial number crossed out. The officers who responded to the apartments, then discovered that Pastor Amani had been stopped by the first two officers who arrived on the scene. The victim was shot in the head and his vehicle crashed into a patrol car. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s family identified him as Emmanuel Amani, 52. He and his wife Sylvie moved to Denver in 2014.
Speaking through a translator, Sylvie said Emmanuel was on his way to work at King Soopers when he was shot.
Sylvie said Emmanuel was a man of great faith, a « prayer warrior, » in her words, as well as a devoted husband and loving father to their two children.
« He was a wonderful man, » Sylvie said. « I lost someone who was very important to me. »

After 21 days in the U.S. law the police officer must release the video, but so far it has not been published. The Congolese went to court with the widow of Emmanuel Amani. The case is unclear…it would seem to the family, as well as members of the Congolese community, that the governor is trying to cover up this crime. The Congolese community in Denver is determined to begin peaceful marches to seek justice and the truth about the murder.
The trial has been postponed until May 20, 2022.
Further clarifications will follow as the investigation continues.
But for now, the DRC embassy in Washington has not reacted to the various events that have plunged the Congolese community in the United States into mourning.

Affidavit* (definition): a term that comes from Roman law. Parties invoke it in trials in which Anglo-Saxon law applies. It is a statement made under oath in Common Law countries by a party or a witness before a solicitor.
